Vice President, Quality

Career Transitions, LLC has been awarded a search project for a Senior Vice President, Quality for a client headquartered in the southwest part of the United States.  This high-tech organization is a leading innovator in silicon photonic ICS and semiconductor development.

Their ground breaking technology has been the catalyst for their growth, and in a short-time my client has expanded their R&D and manufacturing presence in central Texas, southern and northern, CA, and central Pennsylvania.  Additionally, they have completed recent acquisitions that will complement their portfolio of products.


Reporting to the COO, this role is responsible for building a Corporate Quality system that incorporates all elements, including engineering, manufacturing, operations and supply chain.  This role will lead the development and implementation of the organizations quality and manufacturing process and objectives, and attainment of quality and compliance goals across all manufacturing sites.  This role is also accountable for assuring that the organization has no significant quality issues or regulatory actions by government agencies.  Specific duties include:

  • Will use out-of-the box critical thinking skills to align corporate goals and business value and plans that will direct resources and activities of Corporate Quality.
  • Ensures thorough communication of quality systems standards across all sites.
  • Create policies related to quality for the organization while assessing appropriate levels of risks.
  • Will work to reduce complexities and increase value of the Corporate Quality Systems. 
  • Work towards continuous improvement, addressing gaps to product quality ( e.g. systems and people), including opportunities for ongoing innovation and improvements. 
  • Work with product teams and maintenance to help prevent products and tooling/fixtures.


Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering with at least 7 plus years in quality leadership.  Demonstrated history in creating, planning, developing and executing quality systems initiatives in order to maintain world class quality systems standards.  Must have very strong analytical and statistical skills with knowledge of process improvement methodologies like 8D, Six Sigma, Kaizen, LEAN, etc.  Other criteria include:

  • Working knowledge of complex data management tools, statistical process control performance/operation metrics.
  • Demonstrated experience with multiple product launches, and fast pace product transitions in significant sized operation or with a start-up.
  • Excellent communication with sound leadership abilities.
