Optical Module Test Development Engineer

Career Transitions Holdings is currently recruiting for an Optical Module Test Development Engineer to work on the development and introduction to large scale manufacture of new Silicon Photonic Integrated Circuit based Optical Communication products. This role will complement a growing talented engineering team of a rapidly expanding high tech manufacturer serving a diversified manufacturing base.    


  • Provide software and hardware development, documentation and support of DVT and Manufacturing test plans for the MSA/SFF 100G and 400G optical modules.
  • Define and configure required test instrumentation and hardware.
  • Develop VB.NET software to automate the test processes.
  • Develop and support the automated manufacturing test infrastructure.
  • Partner with engineering staff to define and implement detailed testability requirements.
  • Provide fault isolation and identification capability to the manufacturing technical staff.
  • Help drive end to end test yield improvements and test time reduction efforts.


  • Bachelors in engineering or a related field.
  • Previous experience in developing test and measurement solutions for electrical and optical components or subsystems is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with NRZ signaling, Direct Detection, Coherent Detection and/or phase/amplitude modulation theory is a requirement.
  • Experience and/or working knowledge of OIF/MSA/IEEE 802.3 standards are a plus.
  • Programming experience in Object Oriented languages is required. VB.NET or C# is preferred.
  • Microsoft SQL or Other Database experience a plus.
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce detailed test plan documentation.
  • Experience with digital and mixed signal IC testing is beneficial.
  • Experience with Silicon Photonic Circuits is a plus.
  • Experience with testing and characterizing photonic circuits containing EM Lasers is beneficial.
  • Experience with testing and characterizing photonic circuits containing I/Q modulators and demodulators is beneficial.
  • Hands on experience with optical and electrical test and measurement equipment including programmable optical power meters, attenuators, and switches, optical spectrum analyzers, digital multi-meters and oscilloscopes is beneficial.
