Plant Manager

Currently recruiting for a high impact and effective Plant Manager for solid manufacturing operation.  Operating on one shift, this role will direct and manage day-to-day plant operations of approx. 200 employees, through 7 direct reports.  The Plant Manager will be the driver of vision and strategy through working with plant personnel on the floor in the implementation and execution of LEAN manufacturing concepts to produce products of high quality, order fulfillment, customer satisfaction, and cost management.    The Plant Manager will help drive positive culture change and work on employee retention initiatives.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Our Plant Manager Maintains a safe, clean working facility and comply with federal, state, and corporate safety and environmental regulations.
  • Our Plant Manager Coordinates with other plants to ensure production resources (labor, materials, equipment) match production demand.
  • Our Plant Manager Communicates operational status on a continual basis to the Director of Operations.
  • Our Plant Manager Refines and enhances processes by applying continuous improvement and key Lean manufacturing / production principles and techniques to areas of production.
  • Our Plant Manager Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.  Coordinates input that may cross multiple teams or areas; makes recommendations, and implements changes.
  • Our Plant Manager Ensures the completion of production requirements in a timely manner through: direct involvement in the development of production schedules consistent with labor availability and provides direction development and leadership to production supervisors.  
  • Control and minimize labor overtime.  
  • Develops a culture of right the first time, by installing High Performance Behaviors in the team… builds, develops and empowers high performing teams.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources in the areas of recruitment, training and disciplining of employees according to corporate guidelines and policies.  
  • Our Plant Manager Fulfills all record keeping requirements including written performance reviews, safety training, documentation, documenting disciplinary actions, and job related training.
  • Knows and complies with all safety and quality policies and procedures.
  • Our Plant Manager Identifies and facilitates the correction of all safety hazards and quality deficiencies.
  • Our Plant Manager Requires problem analysis skills, an ability to seek out pertinent data, problem solve, and the ability to determine the most important issues or problems upon which to concentrate resources. 
  • Identify best practices and ensure they are leveraged and shared company wide.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously, planning and scheduling work and activities to routinely meet demand and schedule parameters and manage time efficiently.
  • Implement and maintains preventative maintenance program.
  • Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
  • Responsible for maintaining currency in health, safety and environmental regulatory and legal requirements.  Responsible for hazardous materials and environmental compliance program.
  • Other special duties/assignments as needed, including shared duties with fellow supervisors.   

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’ s Degree highly preferred. 
  • 5 years of progressive experience in relevant manufacturing management positions.  Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required. 
  • Must have a passion for safety and workplace organization and continuous improvement initiatives.   
  • Function as a change agent of culture, employee engagement and part of the executive staff rolling out programs for employee retention. 
  • Knowledge of automation and process integration. 
  • The ability to manage multiple processes contained in single facility and manage a wide range of skilled workforce from very skilled to temporary day labor. 
  • Must have firm presence to be able to discipline associates in a fair and professional manner. 
  • Persuasive, articulate with exceptional communication skills to influence people at all levels of the organization. 
  • Some travel required, but 5% at most and will be working a few Saturdays a month.
