Plant Manager

Overall plant management of daily production operations with a focus on safety, on time delivery, organizational development of staff and employee relations, cost, inventory and the relentless drive of continuous improvement and LEAN Manufacturing.

Plant Manager Responsibilities:
  • Clean and well maintained production facility that complies with corporate safety and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinates with other plants to ensure production resources (labor, materials, equipment) match production demand. Share Best Practices.
  • Communicates operational status on a continual basis to the General Manager.
  • Refines and enhances processes by applying continuous improvement and key Lean manufacturing / production principles and techniques to areas of production.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.  Coordinates input that may cross multiple teams or areas; makes recommendations, and implements changes.
  • Ensures the completion of production requirements in a timely manner through: direct involvement in the development of production schedules consistent with labor availability and providing direction and coordination for First Line Supervisors.
  • Develops a culture of right the first time, by installing High Performance Behaviors in the team… builds, develops and empowers high performing teams.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and disciplines employees according to corporate guidelines and policies. 
  • Fulfills all record keeping requirements including written performance reviews, safety training, documentation, documenting disciplinary actions, and job related training.
  • Knows and complies with all safety and quality policies and procedures.
  • Identifies and facilitates the correction of all safety hazards and quality deficiencies.
  • Identify best practices and ensure they are leveraged and shared company wide.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously, planning and scheduling work and activities to routinely meet demand and schedule parameters and manage time efficiently.

Requirements for Role:

Bachelor’ s degree in Production, Business or Engineering discipline with at least 5  years of prior progressive experience in relevant manufacturing management positions. Other attributes include:
  • Demonstrated passion for safety, workplace organization and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated high skill level in Lean Tools and the implementations.
  • Vision for Operational Excellence and track record of successful Lean Implementation. 
  • Proficient with computer systems and software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power-point, and email.
  • Effectively manage in a fast-paced environment with a work force ranging in skill level from temporary workers to highly skilled.   
  • Persuasive, articulate and able to work with and influence people at all levels, nationalities, and personalities.
