Manufacturing Controller

If you offer experience as a Controller over multiple manufacturing sites, you may be interested in this Manufacturing Controller permanent job position in Elkhart, Indiana. In this role you will manage the daily operations for five (5) production sites within the U.S. You will oversee month-end closings, financial forecasts, and consolidations, provide financial advice to the manufacturing department and generate reports accordingly. You will oversee production cost optimization and costs associated with product development, analyze variances and identify trends. You will manage, train and evaluate accounting personnel to support accuracy of physical inventory, flow of raw materials, tools, equipment and other assets within manufacturing sites. You will report to the Corporate Controller and you will manage a small team of accounts and analyst.

What will you be doing?
  • Drive production cost optimization and efficiency in product development costs
  • Review the financial viability of new product ideas, and the projected cost of development
  • Analyze financial results and variances; identify trends; recommend and drive actions
  • Prepare annual business plans as well as quarterly forecasts
  • Provide information to management team by assembling and summarizing data;
  • Analyze Cost Improvement Project proposals, and track actual vs. projected performance
  • Track commodity inflation/deflation trends and projects; set targets and monitor performance of sourcing team
  • Assist with the preparation of capital expenditure requests
  • Provide support for logistics, production forecasting, and product development
  • Provide clarity of understanding and drive improvements in cost reporting and related infrastructure
  • Report manufacturing costs for Corporate-Level issues
  • Maintain a strong and result-driven relationship with Site Controllers and all levels of management
  • Review financial transactions to ensure compliance with government requirements

What do you need to be successful?
  • Bachelor’ s Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field is required
  • CPA is required
  • GAAP knowledge and experience
  • 5+ years of experience overseeing accounting/finance in a multi-site manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a complex global/multi-nation business is preferred
  • Strong background in financial analysis, inventory accounting, and a solid understanding of cost accounting are essential
  • Strong project management skills
  • Driven, motivated, personality that is results-oriented and sets and meets goals
  • Possess a solid understanding all of the financial and operating aspects/measurements of the manufacturing areas of responsibility
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (currently a customized AS/400 system and moving to MS Dynamics AX in 2019)
  • Extensive domestic travel required for the first six months; and then up to 15% travel, including some international travel, required
